Have You Stopped Being Entertaining?

My DJs and performers…

Humor this line of thinking…

Who are you entertaining?

Should they be?

Or are they not.

If so, why?

If then, what is the point?

This is really not meant to be a rhetorical post. I’m genuinely interested in knowing what the intentions behind your choice of being a DJ or performer are.

Why do you choose to entertain?

And if so…

How can you tell if you are?

Let’s discuss.

Press play…Let it build….over and over again…layer by layer. Clip by clip. frequency on frequency….you get used to the sounds of the ravers….clap by clap…. supplementing each others rhythm to perfection…….make sure each and every sample in your track is audible at this moment…….after which you drop it……………….everything……all the sounds……….during those 4.5 seconds of silence….the crowd, tripping on the only thing that mattered at the moment..music……are screaming…trying to figure out wtf went wrong…where did it all come from..more importantly where did it all go?

After which………BOOOM……Let the beat carry on and the music roll……………………you don’t play it…..It plays you…..

Thanks Vas, that’s the ‘HOW’, what about the ‘WHY’?

I’ve been doing it since I was three. I would sneak out of my stroller while my mom was shopping and find my way to the *old* people and sing and dance for them. My mom would find me in the middle of a circle performin my heart out.
It’s a form of pure joy, what I do. I am addicted to it. People loving me as I do something I love, everyone wins.
I tried acting, it wasn’t my thing…although I was told I was a natural. It didn’t make me feel anything.
So as long as I can sing, I will sing. And as long as people will listen and watch, I will perform for them.
When the day comes that no one wants to listen, or watch, I think a part of me will die.

    Well, my personal reason.

Its definitely to entertain. I can’t imagine a better feeling than to get a kick outta putting a smile on people’s faces. You’re dropping the tunes, in the end, you get the “thank yous”, saying that they had a great night. To me, that’s priceless.

Its a two way thing, in any case. The crowd has a great night, and I feel gratified.

But all in all, its about the music, for both sides.

That a sweeet quote. Big up man!

    Who are you entertaining?

    -myself/them/you

    Should they be?

    -In my opinion yes.

    Or are they not.

    -Sometimes.

    If so, why?

-Well that irish guy last week said he was offended because we were busking with christmas tunes a month early.
I think he liked being offended though.
I guess it’s also a matter of taste, should i like rnb?

If then, what is the point?

-someone is normally entertained,if only myself. if not i would have probably given up.

Why do you choose to entertain?

-Really can’t be bothered to get a proper job,
And I have been entertained before and i quite liked it , its nice to give something back.
    Musics a bit weird though.
I guess people need to be reminded of the vibrations, rhythms and harmonics that make up our lives and the fabric of the universe.

    And if so…

How can you tell if you are?

-People say they liked it. Sometimes dance.
    I get money.

    Let’s discuss.

    Yes john let’s.
