Realize that you play other people’s music, then realize that your skills in mixing it, making it personal and spinning it to the best is a responsibility to oneself and the source of any music and musician in the world.

Someday (maybe, maybe not in this life time), other people will play your music.

Karma will take its place then.

IMHO (and tired internet memes aside), a DJ can be likened to a modern day practitioner of shamanism. He/She is the medium between the music and the audience. The DJ is the conductor, the message is in the music, and we are all along for the ride… PLUR baby!

Oh absolutely. That’s why DJs associated to record labels are so useful in propagating a sub-genre of music.

Such as the artists on your Osirion label, they’re your works of art, which you curate as a DJ.

Unless of course you decide to play live PA – then you are an artist!

I completely agree. DJ’s are like curators of art galleries.

The more prolific the art gallery, the better the curator.

If the curator sucks, then the gallery sucks.

BUT the curator is STILL not the artist that he or she displays in the gallery.

I think that without djs, there would be less parties cos less live-acts (and that would be very sad cos we need MORRRE, mostly in south-east Asia(which is NOT a country); but not only…) and the sets would be terribly monotones. Also when I hear the catastrophic quality of the majority of the music produced AND SIGNED lately, it wouldn’t make things better… but this is only my very humble opinion.Voila!

p.s: djs are for (dance)music, what galleries are for paintings…or should be…
